Jason Hilton

Hi everyone my name is Jason Hilton I am one of the co-founders of the Campus Rec Podcast. I grew up around Atlanta Georgia and I began my career in Campus Recreation as a student in 2007 as a Lifeguard at Valdosta State University. During my time at Valdosta State I worked various student positions within the campus recreation department. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in History, I accepted the Aquatics Graduate Assistant position at the University of Kentucky. While in graduate school, I majored in Sport Leadership and graduated with a Master’s Degree in May of 2013.

In early 2013 I accepted a job working as an Event Coordinator with Sun Devil Athletics at Arizona State University. During my time at Arizona State I oversaw the aquatic center while also overseeing guest relations for all athletic events. I have worked all types of events big and small such as the PAC 12 football Championship game, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl game, Ticket City Cactus Bowl game, NCAA Softball Regional and Super Regional tournaments and various aquatic events.

While I enjoyed what I did in Arizona, I felt that something was missing. I felt that my need to develop and mentor others was not being fulfilled. So, in the spring of 2015 I accepted a job back in Campus Recreation at Morehead State University as the Aquatics and Operational Coordinator. During my time at Morehead State University I have served in several different capacities within the Recreation and Wellness Department. I currently serve as the Associate Director of the Recreation and Wellness Center.

In my five years of professional experience I have learned that I am infatuated with modernizing and finding new ways to improve myself, those around me and the students that I interact with on a daily basis.
